Civil Engineer Training Schemes

CUBEiE offers two training schemes for Civil Engineers, Structural Engineering TS and Constraction Management TS.

A.Structural Engineering Training Scheme

 

Structural TS refers to Engineers pursuing to work in Consulting Companies and deal with analysis and design of both reinforced and steel structures. Training Scheme offers an integrated training including:

 

  • Introduction.

  • Basic and Supplementary Training.

  • Engineering Design & Practice.

  • Site Experience.

Introduction

 

  • size, history, subsidiaries if any,

  • products, markets and competitors,

  • location and layout of the facilities,

  • joint consultation arrangements if any,

  • specialist skills,

  • work of related disciplines,

  • management techniques,

Basic and Supplementary Training

 

  • introduction to structural drawings,

  • familiarization with Code of Practice and Building Regulations,

  • familiarization with structural materials and their manufacture,

  • familiarization with common computer analysis and design programs.

  • further study and training.

Engineering Design and Practice

 

  • research for available data or information

  • supervise and interpret soil investigation,

  • assess construction methods and forms of construction,

  • develop design in collaboration with other disciplines,

  • prepare and check structural calculations in foundations, structural steel, reinforced concrete, temporary work, other structural materials,

  • prepare and check general arrangement and working drawings,

  • prepare specifications and contract document,

  • prepare cost estimate,

Site Experience

 

  • planning and programming of construction works,

  • method of construction including the design of temporary works,

  • knowledge of materials, their characteristic and quality control,

  • supervision of construction including checking of setting out, materials and

  • workmanship aspects.

  • liaison with clients, contractors, suppliers and relevant authorities,

  • measurement of works, preparation of site records and reports,

  • monitoring of construction safety.

Construction Management TS refer to Engineers aims to work in Constaction Industry and deal with construction process and planing. Training Scheme offers an integrated training including:

Site Experience

 

  • Planning and programming of construction.

  • Resource planning, allocation and control.

  • Methods of construction and their proper sequence, including design of temporary works.

  • Setting out of works and knowledge of surveying instruments.

  • Mechanical plant including knowledge of use, capacity, output and cost.

  • Materials including their cost, storage and handling problems, quality and other characteristics.

  • Testing materials.

  • Measurement of works.

  • Valuation of variations including variation orders.

  • Interim statements and certificates.

  • Site safety.

  • Environmental Monitoring and Audit

  • Working conditions and welfare.

  • Liaison with other organisations and the public.

  • Site administration including control and management of subcontracts.

  • Site records and reports.

 

Project Management Training

 

  • Programme of design work.

  • Familiarisation with standards, codes of practice and design manuals.

  • Examination of site investigation records in deciding outline solutions taking due consideration of possible alternative designs and their costs.

  • Site inspection and survey for design. D

  • Site investigation including knowledge of equipment and techniques.

  • Testing of samples to obtain design data and proper use of testing equipment.

  • Feasibility studies including economic and environmental considerations.

  • Civil engineering design of permanent and/or temporary works and preparation of drawings.

  • Taking off quantities and preparation of bills of quantities to standard methods of measurement.
